You can use the Position controls when you want to pull an element out of its natural layout and pin it onto a specific location. It has the following options:

Static

This is the default. This makes the element snap to its natural position.

Relative

This is very similar to Static, but allows you to position elements inside relative to the selected element. It also allows you to offset the position of this element using the controls.

When to use

Absolute

This makes the element ignore surrounding layout, and allows you to specify the exact position using the Position controls.

Note that by default, the specified position will be relative to the screen. If you want to position the element relative to one of its (grand)parents, you need to first set the parent to Relative.
